Auckland Road Maintenance Alliance - West

"Together we will set the benchmark for road maintenance"

The Auckland Road Maintenace Alliance - West (ARMA-West), is responsible for delivering the operational and renewal requirements for a third of Auckland's road, including the central business disctrict.

The five-year, multi million dollar contract (2008- 2013) is the first maintenance alliance contract to be awarded in New Zealand.  The contract area, which includes the CBD, stretches from Dominion Road to the western boundary of Auckland City.

ARMA–West, is comprised of client Auckland City CouncilLeighton Contractors, MWH New Zealand, and Blacktop Construction Limited.

The Alliance is responsible for achieving all the contract’s objectives such as high road construction standards, road signage, pavement design, stakeholder communication, safety improvements and improving the condition of the overall network in a short a period as possible.

ARMA-West is responsible for delivering this roading maintenance and renewal service to:

     *   454 km of roads, 50 km of which have more than 20,000 vehicles per day
     *   25,081 signs
    *   1.9 million sq.m. of footpath
        7 km of cycleway
     *   50 bridges
     *   30,000 + catchpits
     *   Provisional scope for capital works for the 2011 Rugby World Cup

This work includes:

     *   the design and implementation of all renewals and maintenance works;
     *   the design and implementation of all minor safety works;
     *   the review, approval, monitoring of all Road Opening Notices, Operating Permits and Street Damage Deposits;
     *   as well as all the programming and monitoring of all works within the Transport corridor.

It is an all-encompassing scope within our third of the City. The work varies from filling a pothole in the footpath of a local road to the full replacement of the infrastructure of a major arterial road.
